Multi-Surface Cleaning Technician (MSCT) Vocational Program

The IICRC will take a non-traditional approach to training and educating cleaning professionals to create the multi-surface cleaning technicians of the future!

The Multi-Surface Cleaning Technician Vocational Program will provide new and current owner operators and technicians a highly structured two-year course encompassing all business and cleaning skills needed to succeed in this rewarding career.

This new program combines the very best technical instructors for both basic and advanced techniques with marketing, financial, and business advisors In three different class settings: online, live in-person, and pre-recorded.

With apprenticeship programs, potential financing, small business loan assistance, and career guidance counseling available, this revolutionary IICRC vocational program will provide resources every step of the way.  Certified MSCTs create the ultimate win-win-win situation for the consumer, business owner, industry educators, suppliers, flooring manufacturers, and our industry as a whole.

Business Skills:

  • Introduction to operating a Multi-Surface Cleaning business
  • Introduction to occupational health and safety in the inspection and cleaning industry
  • Fundamentals of business ownership, employee management, and finances
  • Fundamentals of sales and marketing

  • Carpet Cleaning
  • Carpet and rug color repair
  • Carpet Repair and Installation Principles
  • Onsite and in-plant rug cleaning
  • Tile and stone cleaning
  • Tile, grout, and caulking repair
  • Advanced stone care principles
 
  • Resilient floor cleaning and maintenance
  • Wood cleaning and restoration principles
  • Upholstery Cleaning
  • Advanced fine fabric care
  • Advanced spot and stain correction and removal
  • Basic water, fire, and mold restoration principles
  • Odor control for all surfaces and textiles

  • To educate and facilitate the training of the next generation of cleaning service technicians to a level of proficiency, professionalism, and expertise in all aspects of running a service business that subsequently raises the standard of excellence throughout the cleaning industry.
  • Full transparency as it pertains to the commitment to become a top technician or an owner-operator of a professional cleaning and service company.
  • Proper and thorough identification of flooring and furnishings and an understanding of manufacturers’ specifications so as to limit the liability by utilizing best practice procedures.
  • Renew and reinvigorate the connection between the end-user and their local distributor by offering technical support and hands-on education on all facets of running a professional cleaning service.
