Board of Directors

The IICRC is managed by its Board of Directors, which is comprised of 18 industry leaders elected by the IICRC’s Shareholders. The Boards’ function is representing various interests of the registrants while leading the direction of the organization. The Board of Directors meets four times per year and is tasked with the responsibility of helping shape future policies of the organization and uphold the standards that help shape the industry.

James Tole

James has been in the cleaning and restoration industry for 30 years and has trained hundreds of companies in the USA and Canada. He has extensive field and management experience in the handling of contents after insured losses and specializes in packout procedures, individual job management, contents estimating, and inventory software. James is also a chemical engineering graduate with a great understanding of the chemistries and processes for use in hands-on cleaning. James is an IICRC Instructor as well as an affiliated instructor with Indoor Air Management Canada and Ritcon Training Centers. James brings to his courses a unique compilation of practical exposure and practices based on ‘the science of cleaning’ targeted towards increasing technician, manager, and supervisory skills and efficiency.

Leslie Anderson

Leslie Anderson joined Paul Davis Restoration, Inc. in 2011 as a Regional Manager focused on franchise operations. In 2016 Leslie transitioned into the role of Director of Training. Leslie has more than fifteen years’ experience in the Cleaning and Restoration industry with a large focus in Commercial restoration. Leslie holds the designation of Master Restorer and is an instructor for the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). Leslie is a member the Trauma Advisory Committee (TAC) that developed and wrote the ANSI/IICRC S540 Standard for Trauma & Crime Scene Cleanup. She is also on the IICRC Board of Directors.

Mark Cornelius

Mark Cornelius, has been involved in the restoration and cleaning industry for over 40 years, and has served in most positions starting as a carpet and upholstery cleaning technician, fire, water mold mitigation technician, estimator, project manager, operations manager, Vice President and owner of a disaster restoration company since 2021. Mark has also worked as a consultant on large loss projects. Mark started teaching IICRC approved classes in 2011 teaching for a large equipment manufacture for almost three (3) years.  In 2015 Mark formed an approved IICRC school and now travels the world teaching classes in the US, Canada, and Australia. Mark is a IICRC Triple Master and is an approved IICRC AMRT, CCT, FSRT, OCT, TCST, WRT instructor as well as OSHA OTI in 10 and 30 safety. He has published numerous articles in trade journals and has been a speaker at industries related conferences. Mark also service on several IICRC committees including AMRT MRS exam committees, FSRT, Co-Chair OCT, S540 and S320. Mark is married to Rashelle Cornelius for 31 years and who is also equally accomplished in the restoration industry and is also an IICRC approved instructor. Mark and Rashelle have two children/adults together, a daughter Alexandra and son Devon. Mark holds a blackbelt in Taekwondo, 14 years as a volunteer fire fighter, 18 years volunteer EMT-I and is a NPQ Fire instructor 1. Mark has a passion for the restoration industry and hopes to be part of the future of the IICRC and it’s registrants for many years to come. 

Craig Powers

Craig Powers has been involved in the cleaning and restoration industry for 37 years serving many positions from carpet/upholstery technician, water/fire/mold damage technician, project manager, restoration manager, general manager, and technical support manager. He has owned a carpet inspection/correction company serving the carpet mills and construction industry. Craig is currently the Corporate Director of Restoration for COIT Services, Inc. and their family of companies and franchises.

Craig frequently speaks at industry conferences and events around the US, sharing his passion for all things disaster restoration. He is currently an IICRC S-550 Consensus Body Member drafting a new commercial water damage standard and an IICRC S-500 Consensus Body Member for the next rewrite. Craig is an IICRC Triple Master, carpet inspector and holds the IICRC’s advanced certification of Applied Mold Remediation Specialist, Mold Removal Specialist and is Restoration Industry Association (RIA) Contents Loss Specialist (CLS) & Environmental Risk Specialist certified (ERS). Craig is a past RIA board member (2 terms) and currently sits on the RIA Education Committee. He teaches the RIA 2-day Project Management course. He also holds the NADCA ASCS and CVI certifications and is Washington Asbestos Supervisor certified.

Craig resides in the Pacific Northwest and travels the country pursuing his passion of large loss and catastrophic events, training franchises and new team members in the art of disaster restoration. He looks forward to his involvement with the IICRC BoD and all the registrants and certified firms.

Mark Drozdov

Mark is an Environmental Health & Safety + Sustainability (EHS+S) Standards Subject Matter Expert (SME) with over 30 years of Industry Experience. He co-founded Creative Environment Solutions (CES) Corp. with 120+ employees in NYC, acquired by BSI Group, a 120+ year international standards organization. Mark has successfully executed diverse and notable projects worldwide, including hazard identification/remediation engineering, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, compliance audits, certification training curriculum development, and implementation. Mr. Drozdov is a trusted advisor/consultant to public & private sector clients to effectively identify best practices to improve environmental and sustainability performance and resiliency.

University Professor at The Cooper Union for Advancement of Science & Art, Stevens Institute of Technology, Rutgers University School of Public Health. Mark Drozdov is also an OSHA-authorized and an approved instructor by the USEPA, NYSDOH/DOL/DEC, NJDOH/DCA, FDNY, NYCDEP/DOB/EDC/OER Certified Gold Remediation Professional.

Mark was re-elected to the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) Board of Directors and previously served as VP and on EC and Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for Building Construction Identification (BCI), Chaired CEO and eLearning Committees. Carey Vermeulen

Carey has been a volunteer with the IICRC since 1991 and has served 17 of those years as a Board member, five years as Vice President, and three years as President. Carey has been involved in the development of IICRC/ANSI S500 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration, IICRC/ANSI S520 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mould Remediation, IICRC/ANSI S100 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Carpet Cleaning and was the Chair of the IICRC S300 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Upholstery Cleaning.

Today Carey is among the busiest IICRC instructors averaging over 70 classes a year primarily for the restoration and insurance industries and maintains among the highest student pass rate. Carey continues to volunteer as a public speaker at industry-related events, writes technical articles, and provides consulting services to the restoration, cleaning, and insurance industries.

Robert Blochinger

Bio

Robert is a 45-year veteran of the flooring industry, (FLARNG 1SGT ret. 22 yrs. service), within all disciplines: sales, installation, maintenance, specification, and manufacturing.  He is a former President of NICFI, former Chairman of FCLC, and approved instructor for the IICRC, served on the S600, S220, S250 & S800 Standards committees, Approved  Provider FL DBPR, past member of the BoD: FCICA, current member of NAFCT, NFCAP, IICRC BoD and Inspection Division Chair; owned and operated an installation workroom to the trade in S Florida for 30 years, former technician for flooring maintenance, cleaning with water and fire damage restoration experience. Editor & Publisher of The Flooring Inspector magazine, (NICFI), columnist for ProInstaller magazine ( 10 years), Editor & Publisher  of the  current IICRC Inspector Review, and guest columnist for other trade publications. Currently, Robert is a certified flooring inspector and consultant in all flooring issues and concerns, along with the business side of installations.

Howard Wolf

Bio

Howard Wolf, a Certified Master Restorer, has been in the cleaning, restoration and construction industries since 1984. He is the principal and founding member of HW3 Group, and is past chairman of the ANSI Standards Committee for the Institute for Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). He formerly sat on the board of directors of IICRC (2001-2009) and was chairman of the S500 Water Damage Standard (1999-2013) and chairman of standards (2012-2018). Wolf is also the chair of the new standard writing body S550 Commercial Drying Standard. He has extensive large project management and building diagnostics experience with particular expertise in public facilities and government agency projects. Wolf has participated in over 37 catastrophic events, beginning with Hurricane Andrew in 1992, and has worked in 50 states and 14 countries.

Kevin Pearson

Kevin is on the Board of Directors and a member of the registrant standards committee. Kevin is President of Pearson Carpet Care in Humble, Texas. He is also a Professional Cleaning & Restoration Alliance board member and served on the S100 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Carpet Cleaning and S800 Carpet Inspector Standard and Reference Guide revision committees.

Darren Hudema

Bio

Darren Hudema, has been involved in the restoration and cleaning industry for 46 years, and has served in various roles as a carpet and upholstery cleaning technician, water mitigation specialist, project manager, operations manager, Director of Operations, and as a consultant.

He owned a cleaning and restoration business in British Columbia, which he sold in 2000 when he began his teaching career in 2000 with Dri-Eaz Products and also served as an Account Manager with Legend Brands.  In 2019 he accepted the role of Director of Training and Technical Services at PuroClean located in Tamarac, FL. In his new position, he develops training programs and materials to support, train, and develop new and existing franchise business owners and their technicians to help grow their companies.

He holds a Water Loss Specialist (WLS) designation through the Restoration Industry Association (RIA) and is a IICRC Triple Master and is an approved IICRC WRT/ASD instructor. He has published numerous articles in trade journals and has been a speaker at many industry related conferences.

He’s married to his wife Tricia and has three adult children and has three grandchildren, and his passion is to cook, grill, and smoking food on the BBQ.

Darren Foote

Bio

Darren Foote has been involved in the restoration industry for over 35 years. He owned and operated a property maintenance company while still in High School. In 1988, he co-founded a construction company specializing in insurance-related repairs (wind/water/fire/smoke) with offices in Reno and Las Vegas. Responsible for the company's 24-hour emergency water and smoke damage cleanup services, Darren received his IICRC WRT certification in 1994. This opened his eyes to the exciting potentials of water damage remediation using the proper equipment and science, which, coupled with his experience in the construction industry, gave him a passion for structural drying that has never left him.

In 2007, after over 20 years as owner/operator of Foote Brothers Construction and Water Extraction Technologies (W.E.T.), a Restoration/Construction company with offices in Nevada and Utah, was acquired by BELFOR Property Restoration. Darren retained ownership of Remediation Training & Consulting, founded in 2006.

Darren became the General Manager for Remediation in Reno and Salt Lake City for BELFOR. He later became the Director of Training and the Head of Technical Training for BELFOR USA and 1-800WATERDAMAGE, providing and overseeing staff training, quality assurance implementation, and technical support for existing and acquired offices and new franchisees. Darren also provided project management & quality control on CAT Losses. He co-developed and implemented the Classification and Competency Program for BELFOR personnel and the online training LMS system.

Darren owns and operates Remediation Training & Consulting and LearnToRestore.com, an IICRC-approved school, and provides industry training and consulting throughout the United States and Canada for technicians, Insurance Agents, Adjusters, Facility Managers, Risk Managers, Real Estate Agents, and other industry professionals.

Darren has personally completed thousands of successful water and fire damage jobs with clients ranging from individual homeowners to large homebuilders, hospitals, hotels, school districts, and government buildings. His knowledge and passion are evident in his presentations. He has presented many classes, workshops, and seminars, live and online. He has also been retained in numerous cases as an expert witness and providing project analysis and review.

Holly Burns

Holly J. Burns, Co-Owner of ACE & Approved IICRC Instructor
Holly J. Burns is the co-owner of Action Consulting & Environmental Services (ACE), an IICRC-approved school, and serves as an IICRC-approved instructor. She teaches multiple IICRC-certified courses, including Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT), Applied Structural Drying (ASD), and Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT). Holly is also an IICRC Master Water Restorer and Master Fire Restorer, bringing extensive field and instructional expertise to every course she leads.
 
With more than 17 years in the restoration, remediation, and environmental consulting industries, Holly has devoted her career to protecting individuals and communities from indoor environmental hazards. Through ACE, she provides education, training, and consulting services that help professionals uphold the highest standards of safety, health, and remediation practices.
 
In addition to her work as a business leader and educator, Holly has authored publications and presented at national and international conferences on topics including subrogation, biohazard remediation, and indoor air quality. Her most recent academic contributions include papers presented at the IAQVEC 2023 (Tokyo, Japan) and ECAS 2023 (Cologne, Germany) conferences.
 
Currently, Holly is a Ph.D. candidate in Public Health Epidemiology at Walden University. She is in the final stages of her doctoral journey and will soon graduate, focusing her dissertation on environmental exposures, mold, and cognitive health in women living in low-income housing.
Respected for her engaging teaching style, deep industry knowledge, and commitment to public health, Holly continues to raise the bar for restoration education and professional practice worldwide.

With over 15 years in the restoration industry, Meredith Truitt is deeply passionate about raising standards, strengthening collaboration, and driving innovation within the field. As an IICRC Triple Master and active member of the Continuing Education Committee, Meredith works to expand access to high-quality training and ensure that professionals at every level have the tools they need to succeed.

In her role as School Administrator and National Account Manager for Reets Drying Academy, she leads initiatives that connect restoration companies with education and resources that elevate both technical skill and business performance. Meredith is known for her unique ability to bring diverse perspectives together, fostering meaningful conversations and solutions between parties who might not otherwise find common ground.

Meredith’s passion for people extends beyond her professional work. She is a proud mom to two children, Jacob and Emma. Jacob follows in her footsteps as an IICRC Certified Restorer working in the restoration industry. Her love of people, marketing, and collaboration continues to fuel her mission: advancing the restoration industry in impactful, innovative ways that support the professionals who keep it moving forward.

Damien Monaghan

Damien Monaghan serves as CEO of Rumsey Construction and Restoration, a family-owned firm providing restoration services across the Southeast. With over 15 years of experience, he is an IICRC Triple Master Restorer, member of the IICRC Standards Consensus Body, and shareholder representative for the Mid-South Professional Cleaners and Restoration Association (MCRA). Damien is dedicated to elevating the restoration profession through education, ethical leadership, and Lean business practices. Beyond the industry, he has devoted his career to philanthropy supporting community service, children’s organizations, and disaster relief efforts that reflect his lifelong commitment to service and integrity.  

Craig Jasper

Craig Jasper is an IICRC-approved instructor in carpet cleaning, commercial carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, water restoration and fire restoration. Also an approved instructor for RSA in Trauma. Craig has over 30 years of hands-on experience in cleaning and restoration.

Tony Macaluso

Bio

Tony Macaluso is an accomplished professional in the restoration industry. He is the past president of the Professional Cleaning and Restoration Alliance (PCRA) and currently serves on the IICRC Board of Directors, where he also chairs the Odor Control Committee. Tony founded TM Restoration Schools, Inc., and has taught seminars globally. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Puget Sound and numerous industry credentials, including Certified Restorer and Certified Mold Remediation Specialist. Tony co-owns Sunshine Fabric Cleaning and Restoration in Austin, Texas, and is actively involved in several civic organizations.
